When you draw a great tag many try to decide whether to go on a guided hunt or DIY (do it yourself). Hunter factors weighed out are the overall size of the species, terrain, public ground VS private ground access, equipment needs, local resources, knowledge of the hunting area, travel routes and confidence in judging your trophy.

This type of a hunt can become overwhelming especially if you have waited years to get your long awaited tag.

Scouting costs alone can shock your budget, especially with the high price of fuel.

Booking Your Hunt With Shane Scott Outfitting:

SSO has an easy, no hassle booking process.

Easy SSO 1,2,3 Booking Process:

1-We will go over your hunt package needs. A hunt agreement will be sent to you via email or by mail.

2-An SSO client information and health screening information sheet will also be sent to you.

3-Return the signed hunt agreement, 50 percent booking deposit and client information and health screening sheet to SSO and your hunt is booked.

30 days prior to your hunt beginning the remaining 50 percent hunt payment is due. After received you will be contacted by your hunting guide, advised of the planned scouting days, base camp details and other information pertaining to your particular hunt.

We at Shane Scott Outfitting want your hunt to be a success. We encourage our clients to get a full physical from their personal physician prior to their hunt with SSO.

Our Hunting Guides are Utah State Professionally Licensed. Our Hunting Guides are trained in CPR and First Aid as required by Utah Law.

We want to do our best to make your hunt a safe and successful experience.

We try to reduce the risk of our clients having injuries or health problems while in the field.

Our knowledge of the terrain, travel routes and local resources will minimize your health risk during your hunt.

Guided Hunt Includes:

Two days of scouting prior to your hunt. A guided hunt with our hand picked guides. Our guides specialize in big game hunting. They are knowledgeable on the units and the animals they pursue. Our staff will cape out your animal and transport back to base camp.

Hunter Responsibilities:

The hunter is responsible for the following costs:

1-Transportation to the hunting location. In most cases nonresident hunters will want to rent a car from Salt Lake International Airport to get to the hotel or hunting location.

2-Lodging (lodging may be included on some hunts)

3-Food

4-Taxidermy

5-Meat processing

Note: We will help the client make these arrangements. We will contact a taxidermist and a meat processor prior to the hunt for our clients convenience.

Convenience Package:

The hunter can purchase a convenience package for their hunt. We will take care of food and lodging at the following rates:

9 day hunt $4,100, Camp Host Included

7 day hunt $3,300, Camp Host Included

5 day hunt $2,400, Camp Host Included

The hunter will be responsible for transportation to the hunting area and their alcoholic beverages.

Note: With the convenience package hunters are responsible for their meat processing and taxidermy costs.

Shuttle:

We will shuttle the hunter to the hunting area round trip from the Salt Lake City International Airport, or the Cedar City Airport for $1,000.

Hunters Physical Condition:

We encourage our hunters to be in the best physical shape possible when hunting with us. Hunters are encouraged to get a complete physical 90 days prior to their hunt beginning. Hunting in Utah can be a physical sport.

Hunters Equipment:

We recommend our hunters arrive with the best safety and hunting equipment possible. The mountains are steep and rocky. The weather conditions can change rapidly. Hunters need to prepare for all types of weather during their hunt. Good footwear is required while on your hunt with us. Gator and wool pants are recommended for cougar hunters. The altitude of Utah's mountains can be between 6,000 - 13,000 feet above sea level.

We recommend hunters have a Garmin Rhino 520/530/650 GPS radio in their equipment with extra batteries. If the hunter does not have a Rhino Radio we recommend the hunter have a Cell Phone or Satellite Phone as well as a GPS Device with extra batteries. It is also a good idea to have a Motorola 2 way radio with extra batteries

All hunters should have a day backpack equipped with a survival kit and basic first aid supplies. We recommend the Eberlestock backpacks to our clients. Rain gear is recommended.

Bear Hunts:

Black Bear hunts are a 5 day minimum hunt of $6,000. We use hound dogs when hunting Black Bear. There are no trophy fees for Black Bear. Extension days are $1,000 per day.

Black Bear Hunter Responsibilities:

The hunter is responsible for the following costs:

1-Transportation to the hunting location. In most cases nonresident hunters will want to rent a car from Salt Lake International Airport to get to the hotel or hunting location.

5-Meat processing

Cougar Hunts:

Auction or Limited Entry Cougar Tags: $6,500 hunt price to book your 5 day hunt.

Harvest Objective (Over The Counter) Cougar Tags: $6,500 hunt price to book your 5 day hunt.

Limited Entry Hunts are unit specific. Limited entry hunts are drawn in the public drawing or purchased at a conservation tag auction.

Harvest Objective hunts have larger hunting areas and can cover a variety of units.

Harvest Objective tags are guaranteed over the counter tags.

Cougar Hunter Responsibilities:

The hunter is responsible for the following costs:

1-Transportation to the hunting location. In most cases nonresident hunters will want to rent a car from Salt Lake International Airport to get to the hotel or hunting location.

2-Lodging

3-Food

4-Taxidermy

Deposit and Payment:

We require a 50% non-refundable deposit when booking any big game hunt. The balance is due 30 days prior to the hunt beginning.

On Cougar Hunts we require a total hunt payment if the hunt will start within 30 days of booking.

Additional Hunt Options:

Spotter: Additional spotter during the hunt at $325 per day.

Guests:

Non-hunting companion at $300 day, five day minimum. Call us for details. We do our best to accommodate our client's family and friends. Our client's overall hunting experience is important to us.

Fair Chase:

Shane Scott Outfitting hunts are all fair chase hunts in Utah. We hunt public land. There are no high fences on our hunts.

Tags:

Our clients have purchased a public Utah auction tag or waited years to draw their coveted big game tag in the Utah drawing system. We work hard for our clients success. We put our clients trophy interests first.
